Description:
The foundation stock of this breed were
found feral cats possessing a natural bobtail. Although
the Bobtail
cat has been in existence in America for many generations,
the breed began its true development in the late 1960s,
when a young couple discovered a bobtail brown tabby male
kitten on an Indian reservation in Southern Arizona. They
bred him
to a long tail female. Resulting offspring were born
with bobtails.
American Bobtails were developed by Mother Nature
and are able to survive feral environments, and they are of
above average intelligence.
This medium to large cat is athletic and
well muscled, and gives the appearance of power. The American
Bobtail should also be noted for a wild look with an excellent
disposition.
American Bobtails are a slow maturing
